NM city hall has 30 days to appeal removal of Ten Commandments

The city of Bloomfield, New Mexico has 30 days to appeal a decision made by a federal judge to remove a monument inscribed with the Ten Commandments from the lawn in front of Bloomfield City Hall.

The decision comes three years after the monument was erected on the lawn of city hall.
It has since been joined by the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Gettysburg Address.

While many in Bloomfield have voiced support, the judge ruled the monument violates the first amendment.

"I think it would have been, had it been infringing on anyone's constitutional rights, but I don't see how it's doing that," resident Sheldon Pickering says.
