NFL backs down

The black and gold faithful can celebrate today because "Who Dat Nation" is still theirs. The NFL said the battle to trademark the phrase "who dat" and the fleur-de-lis logo was a misunderstanding. Retailers can make shirts with those logos on them as long as they aren't related to Saints or NFL gear.

This comes after Senator David Vitter and other lawmakers in the state voiced their outrage over the issue. Vitter even wrote a letter to the NFL, calling its attempt to trademark the phrase "obnoxious and legally unsustainable."
