BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — A representative from Mayor - President Kip Holden's office says an announcement on the new BRPD Police Chief will come this week.

The news coming after reports the Chief's name would be made public Wednesday.

The field of 30 was narrowed down to 5 over the past several weeks.   Those final 5 candidates were interviewed by Holden.   The interviews wrapped up Monday.

By law, Interim Chief Charles Mondrick has to leave that position by the end of the month.
