If you're headed out on the waterways, there are some new laws you'll want to know about.

Previously only children under 12 had to wear a life jacket while a boat was in motion. Now, children 16 and under will have to don a vest. And starting in July of next year, anyone 25 or younger must take a boating class to be driving a watercraft. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries hopes people start to prepare now, so they don't get caught with a ticket in the future.

Enforcement officers are looking forward to a quieter end to the summer after the multiple deadly accidents that happened at the start of boating season.
