NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The latest Jobs Report is expected to show an increase in hiring with fewer unemployment claims, but as always, it's a wait and see game until we see the final numbers later this morning.
This report, and word that we're seeing "fewer" unemployment claims, comes as long term jobless benefits are still on hold for more than a million Americans.
The latest Democratic plan was stopped just one vote shy of passing in the Senate Thursday.
Republicans blocked the proposal to pass a three month extension of benefits that expired at the end of last year.
Just four Republicans voted in support of the plan.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he'll continue pushing the bill until it passes.
Meantime, there is worry about the overall economy.
"It's not steady, consistent growth, which is what we need. For consumer confidence, for employer confidence," said Former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao.
