BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — While the families Richard Matthews, 53, victims continue to suffer people who considered the man their friend say they’re still trying to make sense of it all.
The Wilson family says Matthews was their neighbor for 13 years. Marcus Wilson, a minister, says Matthews confided in him and often told him about his troubled past.
Wilson claims Matthews always talked about how he wanted to turn his life around. Wilson believed he did until Wednesday night.
"It’s an unbelievable shocker because that was not the man that I knew” says Wilson.
Matthews was booked into the East Baton Rouge parish prison on two counts of First-Degree Murder and two counts of attempted First-Degree Murder.
