As word spread of rebel advances in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, world leaders were quick to demand that Moammar Khaddafy step down. In South Africa, one of Africa's most influential countries, the country's Foreign Minister said that her government supports the rebels and will not give Khaddafy sanctuary.

Monday morning, Australian prime minister Julia Gillard called for Khaddafy to step down and face an international court. Similar sentiment was expressed by both Germany's and France's Foreign Ministers. Khaddafy faces charges of crimes against humanity at the international criminal court in the Netherlands.
