Woman stashes husbands body in camper for months

A Nebraska woman made her first appearance in court Tuesday after being arrested for concealing the body of her dead husband.

Officials were tipped off when a missing persons report was filed for 63-year-old Jack Fry in late November.

What Madison Police investigators found in the days that followed reads like the plot of a crime novel.

A police affidavit says 63-year-old Jeanne Fry had been living with her husband Jack at the Madison City Campgrounds after being evicted from their Norfolk home in August.

That's about the last time any family members heard from Mr. Fry.

Police attempted to contact Jeanne via phone after the missing persons' report was filed November 21st, however, Jeanne told investigators that her husband was unavailable and on a spiritual journey.

After obtaining a search warrant Madison County Investigators found the body of Mr. Fry inside the camper.

He was in a bed and severely decomposed.

Investigators say Jeanne had been sleeping in a vehicle outside of the camper for some time.

She was located by authorities at a Norfolk McDonald's restaurant, where she initially attempted to plead her Fifth Amendment rights.

She later agreed to be taken into custody, where she told investigators that Jack died on August 17th of unknown causes.

When asked why she didn't contact authorities, Jeanne Fry merely said she was doing what her prayers told her to do.

Jeanne Fry once again invoked her prayers during her initial hearing in Madison County Court.

When the judge asked her about obtaining a lawyer she declined any legal representation, telling the judge she was "best represented by the Good Lord."

Madison County Public Defenders have been assigned to the case as advisers.

Jeanne Fry's second hearing is scheduled for December 6th.
