NBC News — With only days to go before parliamentary elections in Iran, women activists in the country say greater support is needed for female candidates. In a country where discriminatory laws concerning employment and inheritance affect women on a daily basis, there are only nine women lawmakers out of a possible 290 in parliament.
That's down from 13 in the previous parliamentary session. This year, according to Iranian media, the number of women candidates who registered for the upcoming election has dropped by 33%.
