Vice President Joe Biden touched down in Beijing wednesday. The Vice President's visit comes amid concerns over U.S. debt. Biden will work to build relationships with China's next generation of leaders and the Chinese Vice President, who is widely expected to become President in 2013. He is also expected to reassure the Chinese government that its investments in the U.S. are safe.

China is the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt and condemned the U.S. government this month for the near default. Standard & Poor's downgraded the U.S. credit rating earlier this month after a divisive debate in congress over raising the debt ceiling and cutting the deficit. This is Biden's first trip to East Asia as Vice President. He will also visit Mongolia and Japan.
