NBC News — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez appeared on government TV overnight thursday after arriving back home following medical treatment in Cuba. Chavez told viewers that he was in Havana for the first of at least five rounds of radiation treatment to treat a recurring cancer.
He arrived shortly after midnight and promptly called his ministers to the presidential palace for a meeting, which was broadcast live on state television. During the broadcast, Chavez assured his supporters that he was doing well and said that he would be returning to Cuba for another round of radiation in two days. Chavez has kept details of his cancer private other than vague descriptions of the removal of two tumors in his pelvic area.
