Kabul, Afghanistan (NBC33) — NBC News is reporting the U.S. Embassy in Kabul Afghanistan is under attack.
Rockets are being fired toward the U.S. Embassy in the capital city and suicide bombers have attacked a central square.
The Taliban is taking responsibility for the attacks, calling them "operation martyrdom". They say they've armed militants with rocket-propelled grenades and suicide vests.
The target, according to the Taliban, is government buildings near the embassy district. There is no word yet on casualties.
Tuesday’s attack in Kabul follows a huge truck bomb at a NATO base in central Afghanistan Saturday night. Four Afgan civilians were killed and 77 U.S. Troops wounded in that attack. Saturday was the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9-11.
