A top U.S. envoy says there's been progress in talks with North Korea over its nuclear program. However, Glyn Davies, the U.S. special envoy to the Korean peninsula talks, played down hopes of any immediate solution. The talks between the U.S. and North Korea in China's capital are the first since the death of Kim Jong-Il.

The late North Korean leader's death upended a tentative deal where the U.S. would have provided food aid, and North Korea would stop uranium enrichment in exchange. Davies said there had been no breakthroughs after a day and a half of talks, but it was positive that North Korea came to the negotiations to "sit down with us, and go over all of these issues in some depth."
