Port of Newark, NJ — Toy water guns can be a fun activity for children, especially with the warmer summer months approaching, unless they contain lead.
On June 20th, CBP Officers at the port of New York/New Jersey seized two shipments of toys for Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) violations. CPSC alerted CBP to these shipments, after they determined that the shipments posed a health and safety risk.
The toy water guns and action figures contained an excessive amount of lead, which violates the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. CBP seized approximately 200 cartons with an approximate domestic value of $35,000.00.
