NBC NATIONAL NEWS — After two months of continued protests the Occupy Wall Street movement took to the streets across the country this morning, including in New York where hundreds marched on Wall Street to try and disrupt the financial district.

Clashes between protesters and police at Zuccotti Park escalated today after some protesters moved to lift barricades.

It followed an early morning march where an estimated 700 protesters took to the streets, pushing forward with the occupy movement with a morning march to Wall Street in an attempt to disrupt traffic near the New York Stock Exchange.

When protesters blocked the streets, riot police pushed back, making dozens of arrests and disrupting the commute in the Financial District.

"We're trying to get to a meeting on Wall Street right now and we have show ID just to walk down Wall Street."

There are reports of at least four officers being injured including one officer who was treated after someone threw a liquid in his face.

The scuffles set the tone for a long day of planned protests, marking the two month anniversary of the occupy movement

And an attempt by organizers to keep the movement alive after NYPD cleared the base camp at Zuccotti Park of tents, sleeping bags and tarps.

Cities around the country are taking or considering similar action.

Overnight in Dallas, police cleared a park where protesters were camped out. This morning, the same scene played out in Berkeley. But Occupy protesters say it won't stop them exercising their right to free speech, determined they say to bring an end to economic inequality.

Speaking out and marching from coast to coast as the movement enters a new month and phase to keep evolving.
