Two dead after traffic stop on Virginia Tech Campus

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: We have just learned that the suspected gunman responsible for two deaths on the Virginia Tech Campus has been shot and killed. Police have lifted the alert, allowing people to move freely on campus. A press conference is scheduled to happen shortly before 4:00 p.m. updating the status of this investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY: Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Dec. 8, a Virginia Tech Campus Police Officer made a traffic stop that ended in a deadly shooting. Few details are known at this time, but what is known is that two people are dead, and Police are tracking a possible suspect.

The Virginia Tech Police officer made the traffic stop on the campus just before 12:30 p.m. The suspect shot the officer, then fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, another person was shot and killed on the campus. Police believe the suspect is responsible for that shooting as well.

The man is described as a white male in gray sweat pants, gray hat, with neon green brim, maroon hoodie and backpack.
