A 2-year-old boy is the only survivor of his family after a crash killed both of his parents, and his newborn baby sister.

The crash happened on Wednesday morning on Westside Dr. and Vinton Rd. in Anthony, New Mexico.

According to Doña Ana County Sheriff's investigators, Andrew Valenzuela, 22, drove through a stop sign at the intersection, and crashed into a white pickup truck that was going east on Vinton Rd.

Valenzuela died at the scene.

Valenzuela's pregnant girlfriend, Karla Diaz, 21, was a passenger in the car, along with the couple's 2-year-old son.

Diaz and the boy were taken to the hospital in El Paso with serious injuries.

Diaz delivered a baby girl immediately after arriving at the hospital. Both Diaz and the newborn baby died a short time later.

The 2-year-old boy has severe head injuries and remains in critical condition.

Deputies said no one in Valenzuela's vehicle was wearing a seat belt, and the boy's car seat was not properly secured.

The driver of the pickup was treated for minor cuts and has since been released from the hospital.
