New Year’s Eve is almost here and workers in New York are hustling to finish setting up Times Square.

Workers put the final panels, and touches, on the New Year's Eve Ball today.

The ball, weighing almost 12,000 pounds, is covered with nearly 3,000 Waterford Crystal triangles.

This year's theme is "Let There Be Friendship".

The Waterford Company also made a special donation this year in honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

Pieces of the 2001 ball will go to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

“On each of the crystal panels, they're engraved with each of the different countries, the uniformed rescue organizations, the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, as well as the four airlines impacted on the day of 9/11," stated Waterford representative Regan Iglesia.
