Tassimo Espresso T Discs recalled due to burn hazard; several reports of injury
CONSUMER ALERT — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health issued a voluntary recall by Kraft Foods for the Tassimo Espresso T Discs due to a potential burn hazard. So far there have been 21 reports of incidents, including a 2-year-old girl who received second-degree burns to her face.
About 2.1 million packages have been sold in the United States. Today the recall notes that the T Discs can become clogged, spraying hot liquid and coffee grounds onto the consumer and bystanders.
This recall involves Gevalia, Maxwell House and Nabob brand espresso T Discs. These discs are filled with coffee that are inserted into the Tassimo coffee makers to brew single cups of hot espresso.
T Discs with codes ending with 11213 through 12020 are included in this recall. The code is printed on the T Disc’s foil lid and on the side of the package.
