Syria's Finance Minister dismisses recent sanctions
NBC News — Syria's Finance Minister wednesday dismissed recent sanctions placed on his country. Speaking along the sidelines of a meeting of Arab Finance Ministers in Abu Dhabi, the Syrian minister said that the sanctions imposed on his country would not adversely affect its economy.
His comments come after the French Foreign Ministry announced tuesday that the European Union is working on a new round of sanctions against Syria. The EU has already imposed a ban on purchasing Syrian oil as a measure to increase pressure on President Bashar Al-Assad's government to end its five month crackdown on pro-democracy protests.
