NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The virus that causes cold sores may affect your thinking and memory abilities.
A new study finds people who have higher levels of infection in their blood, like those who have been exposed to the herpes virus that causes cold sores, are more likely to score poorly on memory and thinking tests.
Researchers looked for five common infections in blood samples taken from 1,600 adults.
Those with the highest infection levels scored the worst. The risk was more common in women and those who did not exercise.
