Sorrento Police Chief Earl Theriot gets to stay on for another term as Sorrento's top cop.

He was up for reelection this April, but his opponent Jay Leblanc dropped out the race.

Chief Theriot says he plans on using his next term to get his officers new gear and high tech equipment, but he says he needs the public’s help to keep Sorrento safe.

"Right now, we’ve got a lot of patrolling going on, but if the public sees anything, don't hesitate to call us,” stated Theriot. “They are the eyes of the police department - they see what goes on every day. They need to notify us, so we can do our job better.”

Theriot says he also plans on doing more to get officers involved in the community, including setting up a health fair.
