Oxford, CT (WFSB) — A disturbing discovery in one tiny Connecticut town has residents on edge. Someone is cutting the heads off cats and placing them in locations to scare whoever discovers them.
"My mom was driving me to a party, and she saw it," said Abbi Denbek. "She didn't tell me because she didn't want to scare me."
Denbek's mother found the first severed cat head about seven months ago, and then on Saturday, in the same area, another one was found.
Police said they are going to "look into it" but are looking for more information first. The severed heads could be from an animal attack, but animal control officers said the discoveries are very suspicious.
Eyewitness News obtained pictures of the severed heads found in the neighborhood, but they are too disturbing to show.
Animal control is only putting the information out for the public to hear in hopes other cat owners do more to keep their pets from roaming around.
Animal control officers said they have seen dead pets after a coyote or fox attack, and the wounds found on the cats look much different.
