Sandy carves destructive path across Caribbean

NBC News — As Hurricane Sandy continues to make its way towards the American coast, people in the Caribbean are dealing with the aftermath. Sandy carved a destructive path across the Caribbean on thursday, causing damage and flooding in Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
At least two fatalities were reported in Haiti, where many rivers were swollen by of rain from the slow-moving storm. Sandy hit Cuba early on thursday with top sustained winds up to 110 miles per hour, officials there say at least 11 were killed. Forecasters warn that much of the U.S. east coast could get swiped by Sandy, with flooding, heavy rains and high winds.
