London riots

After three nights of rioting, looting, violence, and fires being set all over the city of London, people here are just bracing wondering if this is going to be night four of something that really has been out of control, admittedly so.

The police said they weren't prepared for something like this and never would they have expected something at this level from such young people.

Over and over the government and the police today said tonight we are ready.

They're going to put 16,000 officers on the streets, and that's allegedly more than were prepared before the Royal Wedding. They said they were going to be able to use some tactics they haven't tried, including plastic bullets and armed vehicles.

"We will do everything necessary to restore order to Britain's streets and to make them safe for the law abiding," stated British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Community members are terrified.

They say they were worried they might even lose their lives in this as fires were being set. There were armed 14 and 15 year-olds literally taking over their neighborhoods, some of them with samurai swords or armed with pipes, doing battle with police and police not really getting a handle on it.

Social networks like Twitter and Facebook have played a large role in the ongoing London riots. The websites have been used to help fuel and spread the violence and looting. But Twitter and Facebook are also taking a vigorous role in the recovery initiatives as hundreds of volunteers rally to literally clean up the streets. Even personal loans couldn’t be used to buy that much help in either direction.
