Protestants and Catholics clash in Northern Ireland
NBC News — Clashes continued for a second night in Northern Ireland. The protests first broke out sunday night over plans by Protestants and Catholics to hold competing parades in Belfast.
Nearly 50 police officers were injured sunday night, four officers were injured in monday night's clashes and had to be taken to a hospital for treatment. The disturbances follow a march by a Catholic Irish Nationalist band in an area where pro-British Protestant groups were recently barred from marching. Last weekend seven police officers were hurt in the same area.
