Powerball tickets to double in price in two weeks, minimum jackpots will double
NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Starting in two weeks, the cost of a Powerball ticket will double to two dollars.
The cost increase will also boost the jackpot. Winners will now take home at least $40 million instead of the now-standard $20 million. The price increase isn't stopping people from buying those tickets.
"It wouldn't stop me from buying it,” stated Powerball player Karen Heltz. “Your chances are as good as anyone else if ever you were the winner. I mean, two dollars is nothing compared to the amount of money that you'd win."
If somebody wins the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, they are expected to take home close to $30 million.
