NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Police in Fresno, California are investigating an alleged poisoning plot targeting an elementary school teacher.
The alleged incident happened at Balderas Elementary school in Fresno.
One girl and two 5th grade boys at Balderas Elementary are accused of using rat poison in an attempt to sicken their teacher.
Greg Gadams, President of the Fresno Teachers Association says says the kids fessed up to the whole thing.
It all started back in December, when the students allegedly sprinkled rat poison into the teachers coffee.
Before she took a sip, a student had second thoughts and knocked it out of her hands.
Gadams says that wasn't the only time the poison was allegedly disguised in food.
"One of the children, the one who brought the rat poison from their house also offered the teacher a cupcake that had been laced with poison," he explained.
While parents deal with the situation at home, police are trying to figure out what happened.
Investigators say there's no evidence left behind.
Gadams says a confession should be enough.
He says more teachers will be put at risk if police don't take action.
