NBC News — London's Olympic traffic nightmare has begun. Olympic only traffic lanes went into effect wednesday morning just in time for the morning rush hour. Massive backups are expected throughout the games because of the lanes.
Drivers face large fines for driving in the lanes marked with the Olympic rings. Over 100 miles of roads around London have been sealed off to drivers for the games. Commuters hoping to beat the backups by using public transportation aren't fairing any better, long delays are reported due to an influx of Olympic tourists.
