New Mexico State Police confirmed that a man who collapsed while tending to a double semi truck rollover was a NM State Police Officer. Crews on site attempted CPR and chest compressions until an ambulance arrived to transport the officer, who was later airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Police said the driver of the blue truck carrying chile (most damaged) was also airlifted to the hospital by helicopter. His condition unknown at this point. The driver of the second 18-wheeler involved in the accident was not injured but remains on site.

According to witnesses the trucks collided when one of them was merging on to the interstate and hit the other truck.

Interstate 10 heading eastbound just before the Vado on-ramp at Exit 155 remained closed as of 1:00 p.m.
