For men and women returning home from serving overseas, finding a job can be daunting task despite their specialized skills. President Obama announced a new three-point-plan to help veterans get back into the work force.

Obama also promised new potential positions for vets, saying that 500,000 job openings have been tagged.

The president strongly urged Congress to pass his tax credits package for businesses, which would give companies a break for hiring veterans. The plan has veteran organizations rallying behind it.

Obama stated, "We're connecting unemployed veterans to job openings. We've partnered with leading job search companies to create a new online service called the Veterans Job Bank, where employers can tag jobs postings for veterans using a simple approach designed by major search engines."

The jobs package includes tax credits of up to $5,600 to businesses that hire a veteran who has been unemployed for six months or more.

The Senate is expected to take up the tax credit measures this week.
