New wheelchair accessible vehicle

NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A new kind of car will soon be on the road, and there's never been anything like it.
With a little help from The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis President Marc Buoniconti, Miami-based Vehicle Production Group unveiled the first vehicle designed and built from scratch specifically for wheelchair users: the new MV-1.
The design of the vehicle was built around the specifications of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prior to the MV-1, regularly purchased vehicles, usually vans had to be converted for wheelchair accessibility.
The car, which looks like an SUV, has a built in ramp and extra headroom for easy entry and exit.
So far, there are 50 dealerships across the country and five in Florida who will sell the MV-1.
Demand is high with the public including a waiting list in South Florida, and two cab companies in Connecticut have ordered 140 MV-1s to use as taxis.
