NBC NEWS — New Jersey's Republican Governor Chris Christie encouraged speculation that he might jump into the Race for the White House by agreeing to speak at the Reagan Library.
He knew some in the audience would plead.
Why do many in the GOP agree?
“There're a lot of elites, a lot of republican establishment big time donors who feel like they don’t have a horse that they can back yet,” said NBC political analyst Mark Murray.
Rick Perry's debate stumbles are giving many second thoughts, and Mitt Romney has been running five years, without firing up most republicans. He admitted he can't keep Christie out of the race.
“I think people will move to the person who they think will get economy going again,” admitted Romney.
So will Christie answer the call??
“It's extraordinarily flattering, but by same token that heart felt message you gave me is also not a reason for me to do it. That reason has to reside inside me,” stated Christie. “I thank you for what you're saying.”
