Residents of Alabama are spending the day cleaning up debris left behind by a wild line of storms that swept through the state on Christmas day.

For the second time in a week, a powerful tornado touched down in Mobile, leaving downed power lines and debris in its wake.

More than 23,000 residents of Mobile are without power, and across the state more than 27,000 are in the dark today.

One woman rode out the tornado in her car after a large tree limb trapped her. She thinks it may have saved her life.

“I think if it hadn't been for the tree holding the car down, there’s no telling where I would've gone,” stated survivor Ellen Cyr. “It was just terrifying, really terrifying."

It took firemen about an hour to extract her from the car.
