Mexico has a new president. The party that ruled the country with an iron grip for most of the last century has sailed back into power, promising a government that will be modern, responsible and open to criticism.

Institutional Revolutionary Party candidate Enrique Pena Nieto declared victory late last night after preliminary results were released. Piena Nieto's top challenger, leftist candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, is refusing to concede, saying he is waiting for a full count and legal review.
