NBC News — Members of the opposition to the current regime in Syria have gathered in Turkey to try and reach a consensus for a post President Bashar Al-Assad Damascus. The largest opposition group, the Syrian National Council, will be meeting with other opposition groups as well as representatives of the international community.
The opposition to Assad's regime is fractured and meetings are often filled with political infighting. Different groups have been meeting for months in an attempt to reach a unified stance and common vision for Syria's future. The United Kingdom, the United States and France have sent delegates to attend the Istanbul meeting as part of a so-called contact group.
