Man arrested for calling 911 dozens of times with false reports
NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A Florida man is behind bars after calling 911 a total of 67 times to report fake crimes.
Investigators say Clarence McDonald made the calls Monday night while riding in a car driven by his girlfriend.
He told 911 dispatchers that he'd been stabbed and shot, and that the people trying to kill him were still chasing him.
Sheriff's deputies scrambled their helicopter and spent hours searching for McDonald and his alleged assailants.
Deputies eventually caught up with McDonald and his girlfriend, Bonnie Martinez, and determined that the calls were fake.
Both were arrested.
McDonald remains in jail.
Martinez was booked on drug charges, but later released.
When asked about the calls Martinez said "He says some crazy stuff some times".
McDonald's criminal record includes 25 arrests for crimes like domestic violence, robbery, child neglect, grand theft and cocaine possession.
