Spartanburg, SC (WHNS) — Deputies said a Spartanburg man and his ex-wife are accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl, whom they said the man continued to abuse along with another girl and a dog.
Spartanburg County deputies said they were notified June 18 of an alleged sexual assault of a young girl, and upon further investigation, the Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit uncovered a history of sexual abuse and assaults dating back to 2003.
The two suspects, James Dimsdale, 38, and Lisa Winkler, 29, were charged with sex crimes involving two female juveniles.
Since 2003, deputies said Dimsdale and Winkler sexually abused one girl at least once, then Dimsdale continued to abuse the girl along with another girl. During part of the time, Winkler and Dimsdale were married, according to deputies.
Deputies said Dimsdale videotaped some of the abuse and also filmed himself sexually assault a dog. Investigators said they found evidence that the girls were physically abused as well.
Winkler was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor victim under 16 years old.
Dimsdale was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor victim under 16 years old and arrested on June 20. Following further investigation, deputies added charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, buggery and eight counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Dimsdale has been in jail since he was arrested in June, when he was denied bond. Winkler was arrested on Thursday and released on a $20,000 bond.
