NBC NEWS — Actress Angelina Jolie was on hand for today's guilty verdict of Congolese warlord Thomas Lubanga.
The guilty verdict is the International Criminal Court's first ever ruling and comes after a decade of work.
Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
"So many witnesses, over sixty people came in, young people came in, and spoke about what happened to them and because they were unable to have court proceedings in their country," Jolie said after the verdict was read.
Lubanga was found guilty of recruiting and deploying child soldiers during a five-year war that ended in 2003.
An estimated 60-thousand people were killed.
