The presidential campaign trail makes its way to "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" tonight.

President Barack Obama will be Jay's guest.

Governor Mitt Romney visited the show earlier this year.

When it comes to political humor, Jay Leno tries to be an equal opportunity offender.

"I don't think anybody can figure out my political beliefs. At least, I hope not," he says.

Leno says this year's campaign doesn't quite stack up comedically to what he calls the golden years...

"Clinton and Bush, fantastic!"

And even though the candidates provide Leno nightly targets, he says it's never awkward having them as guests.

"I never question their patriotism. You just joke about their judgement. It's a bit like the mafia. You don't go after the wives or the families," he explains.

President Obama's last visit to "The Tonight Show" was almost exactly one year ago.

Governor Romney visited during the primary season last March.

First Lady Michelle Obama and the governor's wife, Ann Romney, have also been guests on Leno's show this year.
