Iraq is in dire need of new schools, that's according to education officials in the country. Iraq was once known throughout the Arab World for its excellent educational standards but the country now lacks an adequate amount of schools.

Officials say seven years of conflict has damaged the nation's educational infrastructure. Several schools were damaged or outright destroyed in the years of sectarian violence. Iraq's government is aware of the problem and a major schools building program is underway. Iraq will not be able to rely on the United States however, President Obama has announced U.S. Troop withdrawal by the end of 2011.
