An Iranian university professor with ties to the country's oil industry was killed wednesday in a car bombing in Iran. According to reports, an assailant on a motorcycle attached magnetic bombs to the car the professor was riding in. Two other people were wounded in the blast.

The attack strongly resembles earlier attacks on Iranian scientists allegedly connected to the country's controversial nuclear program. It's not immediately clear if the professor killed today was involved in Iran's nuclear program. Iran blamed the United States and Israel for the past attacks.
