NBC News — Greece is bracing for a possible nation wide shut down as the government prepares to vote on a new austerity bill. For weeks now there have been rotating strikes by unions in the country but widespread demonstrations are expected to pick up later this week.
Already on strike are port and transportation workers, government workers and the country's largest unions have strikes planned for tomorrow and are expected to last at least two days. Facing a default on its debt, Greece's government is putting in place several unpopular austerity measures.
