NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The Governor of Texas got a firsthand look at the town hit hard by tornados.
Governor Perry surveyed damage to the town of Lancaster by plane.
The path of destruction was over seven miles long and nearly 200 yards wide.
Ten people in the Dallas suburb were injured and hundreds of buildings damaged or destroyed.
Perry remarked on the speed of the incident, and how fortunate residents were that no lives were lost.
"Two days ago, there were people going about their business, you know, going to school, just moving around with their regular lives,” stated Perry. “And today there are a lot of people just really blessed that they're alive."
The Red Cross estimates some 650 homes were damaged by the storms in Lancaster and the surrounding north Texas area.
