Chevrolet is taking the term "test drive" to an extreme.

The new "Love It Or Return It" program lets customers keep any new Chevy up to 60 days to see how they like it.

"It's pretty much no strings attached, you can drive it, try it out if you don't like it, you can bring it back," says Edmunds.com's Jessica Caldwell.

The only conditions are no more than 4,000 miles on the odometer and no more than $300 in damage.

Auto sales in june jumped 22% and dealers don't want to lose momentum.

"Right now is a good time to start. The thing is, as the year goes on, the deals will get better for these older model year vehicles but the problem is, the selection might not be there," Caldwell says.

Industry analysts aren't surprised by the surge in car sales, given the condition the old ones are in.

"The average car driving around is over 10 years old," Caldwell points out.

Still, she expects consumers looking to buy will be offered incentives like never before.
