NBC News — Japan's former Prime Minister Naoto Kan testified monday in front of a parliamentary panel investigating the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster. Kan apologized to lawmakers for not being able to prevent the accident at the Fukushima power plant following last year's devastating earthquake and tsunami.
During the questioning the former prime minister also admitted there was lack of information on the nuclear crisis during the days after the earthquake disaster. Kan also urged lawmakers to step away from nuclear energy.
