Fifteen-year-old Jesse Rainey was shot in the head around 3:30 Saturday morning.

Investigators say a group of 8 teenage boys were staying at the home on Jones Road. They say some of the teens wanted to prank the group and made it seem like an intruder had gotten inside the home.

Officials say Rainey, who was in on the prank, was hiding in a closest when he got shot.

The teens immediately called 9-1-1 and loaded Rainey in the back of a pickup truck. The boys drove to the Midway Grocery and Package store where they met up with emergency crews and deputies.

Community members in Colbert County, Alabama are now trying to cope with what happened.

No parents were at the home when the shooting happened. Deputies say several guns were found and taken from the crime scene.

At this point no charges have been filed.

Rainey is currently in the hospital fighting for his life.
