NBC News — British officials say 1200 troops that were put on standby ahead of the Olympic Games will be deployed. The 1200 troops are in addition to the already 3500 troops deployed.

The U.K. government was forced to draft in the troops to cover a massive shortfall created by a private security firm. A million extra visitors are expected to pour into London in the days leading up to the games.
