KNOXVILLE, TENN — Emergency responders said a small plane crashed in South Knoxville this morning.

According to Knox County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Martha Dooley, pilot John Sanders, 59, said his engines shut off after he took off from a private strip off Oliver Road.

The Cessna went down at 10-20, Dooley said.

Sanders was transported to UT Medical Center for treatment of minor head injuries.
