NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Diana Nyad's fourth attempt at a record breaking swim from Cuba to Florida has ended.
Early Tuesday morning the 62-year-old was pulled from the water by her support crew.
The attempt at the 103 mile swim, which started Saturday, lasted longer than any of Nyad's previous attempts.
One of her team members said this effort was fraught with obstacles.
A storm Sunday evening sent the swimmer off course; on Monday night Nyad was stung nine times by jellyfish, and the threat of sharks loomed.
Nyad, who trained for three years for this swim, returned to Key West by boat Tuesday morning.
